CROSS COUNTRY

Cross Country season runs August through December. Registration opens July 24.

Cacti

Cross country races are trail runs across several types of terrain at distances of 2,000m (1.2 miles) for kids 8 years old and under; 3,000m (1.9 miles) for kids 9 through 12 years old; 4,000m (2.5 miles) for kids 13 and 14 years old; and 5,000m (3.1 miles) for 15+ year olds.

As the mission of our club is to create runners for life, we include athletes from every ability level, from recreational and inexperienced runners, to those focused on becoming nationally competitive. Athletes do not need to live in the Walton school district to participate.

Registration is first-come, first-served. Athletes with similar ability will be trained together, regardless of age. Practices are typically 3 days per week in East Cobb, with 3-4 developmental meets around Metro Atlanta on weekends. More details about practices, registration fees, and other details will be included on the Registration page when they are available.

The Walton - Pope Youth Running Club also participates in the USATF Junior Olympic series of competitive meets in the post-season. All meets are optional, though USATF meets require advancement through the post-season.
